This full scale model highlights what a resident's home may look like. Full scale rooms are built to put design ideas in to practice to see if a vision will work in a realistic situation.

This participant designed room features large windows with plenty of storage space and room for mobility. Every room would have an adjoining door frame built within the wall so a simple renovation would create shared space. The room is designed with dimmer style lights and an individual bathroom that is completely accessible.

The TV desk area can be folded away when not in use. With modern technology in mind, every room would be equipped with a cable and internet package.

The wheelchair accessible bathroom has two seperate closets that house dirty and clean linens specific for the room. The shower is designed to be wheelchair accesible with a fold away bench that easily allows increased space in the room.

The resident's linen closet can be easily stocked through a door that opens in the outer hallway allowing staff to provide services to residents without entering their private space. This restocking system has the advantage of always allowing older stock to be used first as new stock is added to the back.

The spacious tub room was designed by participants with accessiblity in mind. The room comes equipped with a murphy bed allowing clients to prepare for bathing right in the tub room instead of changing elsewhere. This ensures privacy for clients.

Saskapoles and lifts are installed for patient safety and a warming cupboard is in place. There is plenty of storage and a bench positioned to allow staff to easily attend to client needs.

The resident laundry room allows residents the opportunity to do their own laundry. Accessible machinery and laundry processing tools are a highlight of this room.

The dirty service room houses soiled linens and cleaning services. Of specific interest is the bed pan cleaner which is an enclosed unit designed to disinfect bed pans with infection control protocols in mind.

Soiled linens are stored in this unit allowing housekeeping staff to collect items without entering residents private space.
